Everyone loves a parade, especially one that is wild – Wild West that is! That’s the theme this year’s Bendigo Bank Street Parade. One of the highlights of the Christmas in Cooroy celebrations, the parade makes its way up Maple Street and back and attracts up to 8,000 spectators.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Christmas in Cooroy and for the last few months the organising committee have been busily planning bigger and better things! The Cooroy Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank has once again boosted Cooroy’s celebrations as the major sponsor providing $7,000 to the festival and they are in good company with approximately 30 others businesses also providing sponsorship to make the event a success.
“You know you are onto a winner when everyone is so excited to be involved. There are over 40 businesses and community groups, over 100 volunteers and thousands of people that get together to celebrate at Christmas in Cooroy. This event is so much fun and it just gets better each year – it’s truly a fantastic community event,” said Cooroy Community Bank branch manager, Geoff Edwards.
“The Cooroy Community Bank branch’s sponsorship has been integral to the success of the event for many years now and together with the other sponsors it allows us to continue to grow the festival while keeping everything free! There’s so much that goes into planning a community event such as Christmas in Cooroy and it simply couldn’t be achieved without these sponsorships from local businesses,” said event manager, Danielle Taylor.
“We urge everyone to get involved and have a float in the Bendigo Bank Street Parade. Wild West is a great theme and we expect there will be gunslingers, saloon girls, cowboys, Indians and all sorts of other imaginative creations as well as lots of Christmas themed floats! You don’t have to be based in Cooroy to be involved, it is great exposure for your business or community group and a best of all it is a lot of fun!”
