Once upon a time, in a lovely little town called Cooroy, there was a wonderful group of Christmas elves who worked for months and months every year to put together a magical community celebration called Christmas in Cooroy!
Christmas in Cooroy is right at the top of the Christmas Tree in terms of festive season celebrations. Attracting over 10,000 people, this event has the biggest program of FREE activities on offer! One of the highlights is the Bendigo Bank Street Parade and the theme this year is “Fairy Tales & Legends”. The organising committee has been hard at work over the last few months but this week had a bit of fun testing out some costume ideas.
“The Bendigo Bank Street Parade is a big drawcard with around 30 floats decorated in all sorts of imaginative ways. There are always lots of giveaways and lollies handed out into the crowds and people of all ages are just amazed at how great the floats look. Christmas in Cooroy is such an amazing event and so much goes into organising it, we couldn’t afford to do it without sponsors like Cooroy Community Bank Branch,” said event manager, Danielle Taylor.
“We are always pleased to be involved with Christmas in Cooroy as it’s so much fun. But the reason we continue to be major sponsors is that it gives so much benefit for the community. It is a showcase of great community spirit with everyone working together to produce something quite special,” said Cooroy Community Bank branch manager, Geoff Edwards.
Christmas in Cooroy is on Saturday 5 December from 4pm and you can get the full program and all the information at www.christmasincooroy.com.au. If you’d like to be in the Bendigo Bank Street Parade, entry forms are also available on the website. Entry is free for community groups and $30 for businesses.
