Don’t Miss the Celebration of the Decade

Christmas in Cooroy is right at the top of the Christmas Tree in terms of festive season celebrations! This year is going to be bigger and better to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this fantastic free community event!

Crowds for Bendigo Bank Street ParadeAttracting over 6,000 people, this event has the biggest program of FREE activities on offer, not to mention some really fun events that you just don’t see anywhere else!

“Christmas in Cooroy is unique because everything is free including rides, face painting, photo booth, a host of children’s activities and of course the popular visit by Santa. But it is the wealth of unique entertainment and the terrific community atmosphere that really gets people excited. Plus this year to celebrate our 10th anniversary we’ve added so much more to the program that it is sure to be simply amazing,” explained event manager Danielle Taylor.

A new addition to the program this year is the Santa Sack Race sponsored by Cooroy Fish & Chips. Traditional sack races to kick of the day at 4pm are sure to be a big hit with the kids and every child that participates gets a prize. There is also an animal farm, a wishing wall, a children’s parade plus lots of other exciting additions this year.

Next on the program is the Great Santa Race which is truly amazing spectacle with a crowd of Santa suit clad runners doing a roughly 300 metre sprint up the main street? There is a prize pool of $2,400 sponsored by Noosa to Hinterland Plumbing Group and the $10 entry gets you Santa suit to run in and the proceeds go to the Leukaemia Foundation.

The Bendigo Bank Street Parade is the big drawcard with around 30 floats decorated in all sorts of imaginative ways. This year the theme is “Wild West” and there are always lots of giveaways and lollies handed out into the crowds and people of all ages are just amazed at how great the floats look.
